Our School

Tumwater Middle School is located at 6335 Littlerock Road. The over 100,000 square foot facility serves nearly 625 students in grades 6, 7, and 8 with an administration/multi-gymnasium building and three classroom buildings which houses over 40 classrooms. In the Fall of 2016, construction began on the addition of a 10-classroom teaching pod, updates to music and choral arts spaces, and a new gymnasium with enough seating capacity for the entire school. Our classrooms boast high quality instructional technology (interactive whiteboards, document cameras, etc.), new multi-use classroom furniture, and other learning environment upgrades.

Students participate in six classes each day with an emphasis on core skill development: language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education and health classes. In addition, students choose from a variety of fine arts and exploratory classes including: band, choir, orchestra, art, robotics, green architecture, science of technology, leadership, flight & space, magic of electrons, move for life, and more. Students can receive academic support in study skills, language arts and mathematics. More than half of our student body participates in our music programs and over 300 students take part in our after-school sports programs.

TMS Athletic teams are a great way for students to participate in the TMS community, learn about working together, and have fun. Our current sports and activities programs are for 7th and 8th graders (as per WIAA rules). Student athletes can participate in one or more of the sports offered over five 5-6 week seasons throughout the school year: Season One (Aug-Oct): Football, Girls' Soccer, Cross Country; Season Two (Oct-Dec): Girls' Basketball, Wrestling; Season Three (Jan-Feb): Boys' Basketball; Season Four (Feb-Apr): Volleyball; Season Five (April-May): Track
